Erik Johnson is a performance artist, multi-instrumentalist, educator, composer, producer, dancer, writer, and yogi.
He grew up just north of Detroit where he became deeply immersed in language and culture. Proficient in 10 different instruments, singing, music theory and composition has allowed him to create in a wide variety of musical styles from a solo songwriter, to improvised ensemble pieces, up to a full orchestra.
In college, Erik was awarded a grant to premiere the show People, a play that he co-wrote, organized, and performed.
He won Downbeat Magazine’s competition in the Blues/Pop/Rock Group category in 2013 as part of the Aaron Garcia Band.
He’s performed in 18 states and Canada, recorded and played a number of instruments in a wide variety of performance settings, and guest appeared with five professional orchestras. Being concerned with the well being of his community, Erik has performed for many fundraising events, nursing homes, hospitals, theaters, dance events, and recitals.
Erik teaches group and private music lessons workshops, and online with skype. He continues to make radio, video, live performances, so stay in touch to see what's coming next!
